Ahhh it’s properly Christmas and I’ve been looking back over 2015 a little bit. Thinking about the things I wanted to achieve at the end of last year and whether or not I did! I do feel like 2015 was the first year I actually (sort of) tried to achieve my ‘resolutions’ more than usual. Usually I feel like we just make them to make ourselves feel more positive about the coming year but then we never actually put the effort in to achieve them. Like every year, I had a list of things I wanted to get into the habit of doing or achieve in some way. Some of them I got stuck into and actually managed to keep up and some of them I probably didn’t even think about past 4th January 2015 but that’s ok… Here’s a little look at the things I did and didn’t achieve in 2015
Drinking more water
I know this is a boring and seemingly simple one but I’ve always found it difficult to stick at drinking lots of water throughout the day. I actually love water (lol) it’s my favourite drink after prosecco #basic&Iknowit. I cut down on fizzy drinks a couple of years ago and now I just find them too sweet and bloaty.
Anyway, I wanted to drink 2 litres of water a day in 2015 and I’d say for a large percentage of the year I actually did this. I think the key to it is having a litre sized bottle that you can carry around with you/keep on your desk at work so you can keep track of how much you’re drinking.
I’ve never been a huge coffee drinker but I also made a conscious effort to swap coffees for herbal teas more and that has worked out pretty darn well. (Or I’ll have a decaff when I really fancy one because I discovered this year that sometimes real coffee can make my breathing funny and I go all weird)
Yeeey I got a job in 2015! By job I mean like my first step on the career ladder and something that I enjoy rather than settling for the first one that came along purely for money. I finished uni in 2014 so in between I did a couple of temp things but I knew in 2015 I wanted to start a long term job which was going to help me progress and learn. I really feel like I’ve achieved that this year, after a rocky couple of months at the start of the year, also known as ‘unemployment’ which literally made me want to poke my eyeballs out, my job now allows me to be creative but also teaches me new things I didn’t learn at uni.
This is a really boring one, sorry, but I told myself that if I didn’t get a job where I needed to get the train, then I’d get myself a new car which I looove. Maybe a resolution for 2016 could be to clean it more… damn bird poo.
I mean, I kinda went to the gym more??? Did I?? No this is definitely one to work on. Not even going to the gym more but generally being more fit. Right now I don’t know if I could run for more than 10 minutes… DOH.
Meant to achieve but kinda forgot…
Reading lots of books
My aim at the beginning of the year was to read a book per month. Throughout 2015 I read about 3 books…. OOPS. So next year, I’ll try again! I’ll try and read one per month. I will I will I will. If you have any book recommendations, please let me know in the comments.
More blog posts
This is a funny one because I feel like I’ve gone through phases with my blog where I’ve been really consistent then just haven’t posted for a whole month which is NOT IDEAL.
I did save money… then I spent it. Let’s move on shall we….
I’m sure I’ll have loads more things I want to achieve in 2016, might turn it into a little blog post so I can’t ‘forget’ them! Thank you if you have been reading my blog throughout the year, it really does make me supes happs when I see that a couple of cuties are enjoying my content and I have lots more ideas for 2016 so keep following! You could also let me know what you want to see more of here.
Have a very…….
and a Happy New Year!
